Found the wm6.1 beta 2 txceaser cooked rom here and a mirror here. The mirror site requires registration for download; txcaeser's site is known to disappear from time to time for obvious reasons. I've used it on my phone for about three weeks now and haven't run into any problems. Turning off some of the notification sounds takes more digging than it used to. But bluetooth works in both my car and Heather's. I love the new homescreen interface, but some of the screens like incoming call and dialed call have the colors all out of wack. Putting it down to beta and I can overlook it for the coolness of the new homescreen. Other than that, not a whole lot of new functionality so it's a bling upgrade for sure.

[post update] I've switched to using mkv2vob exclusively. I have better luck fast forwarding with files created there, and since I first started experimenting, there haven't been any issues with bad muxes in mkv2vob. Also found that the PS3 will kinda sorta try to play x264/ac3 in an avi container (shows thumbnail image) but won't play it. It was thought that I might abandon the ps3 and remux the mkvs to avi for xbox360 playback, skipping the mkv to wmv transcode. But I haven't found any good info or muxers for that yet. I've also given up on meta for m2ts, I don't believe it exists outside of the bluray structure. This is mainly for my use, because I've been all over the place in the last few days collecting crap to get this to work. And I'm still working on getting WMP to play the files natively so that I can get thumbnails in the WMP Library (just icing, not really necessary). So why am I doing this instead of using encode360 to transcode the mkv to wmv? Takes too long. Takes about 12hrs on my core2duo imac to do a 2hr movie. With this method, ...

It's big. It's bloated. It has way too many transparent background pngs. And it's only about 50% done right now; there's still a lot to do, but most everything sorta works. Any post with a lot of images is broken right now since I've styled them to float left by default. I'll have to go back and edit gallery posts by hand to wrap them in something. Search / Archive / Category are just using the default main page. I still want to try to get the main page to display a different # of posts than other pages. I think I've got what I need for that, but it'll have to wait until tomorrow.

Hyping a launch day, scheduling it during the middle of North America's work day and then not anticipating server load (or deciding you don't care) = monumental fail.

So my first thought, because naturally I was comparing it directly to Lego Star Wars: The Complete Saga, was that it wasn't very polished. My second thought was that it seemed short. After playing it for awhile, it is and it isn't. Level design doesn't seem as polished or thought out as Lego Star Wars; seems to be a lot of bad camera angles and clipping. And of course its short, there are only three movies to cover instead of six. But the levels still feel a lot shorter than Star Wars levels. Still like it though. I was getting tired of trying to mine achievements on GTA IV.

Holy jeebus I wanted to like this movie. I've had the theme song as my ringtone for months now. But, if I'd known that the entire screenplay was Lucas, I'd have never gone. The man has either gone senile, or he never had any talent or early on he surround himself with it, sucked it dry, and now nobody will get near him. Either way, this movie is a bomb. There's a quote in Fight Club where the narrator is describing insomnia as viewing the world as a copy of a copy. That's pretty much what KCS is. Everything's there, it just has no feeling to it; it's dull and rounded. The 3rd Indy movie, while still enjoyable, was already milked dry. Got my Beta 2 invite today. It's another mobile browser that grabs the full size page and then renders it for the phone display. What I'm not sure of, and not really that concerned about, is if it's deepfish style where there's a server doing it on the back-end or if it's all managed on the device. I suspect it's server since you have to sign in to an account and the application states it's connecting. That may just be for authorization for the beta though. I'd much prefer to see an app that just downloads the page to the phone and then uses the phone's processor to re-render the page as a picture file. But I doubt that phone procs are good enough for that without major performance issues. Tested out a few pages and it seems to have mostly full CSS support, just not :hover events. Nothing huge. Figured this would be a good test of Wordpress 2.5's new image gallery/thumbnail functionality. Worked pretty good, except the alignment doesn't take. According to this support post adding the lines .aligncenter { display:block; margin-left:auto; margin-right:auto; } .alignleft { display:block; margin-right:auto; } .alignright { display:block; margin-left:auto; } to your theme stylesheet fixes it. But it didn't for me, so I had to go back in and add a float:right. Not the end of the world. Anyway, this is the crap layout I think I've finally settled upon for the new theme. Now I get to work on font sizing and putting in elements. Why do I waste the time?

Went smooth, I like the new admin console and the increased bit of functionality. Two of the plugins broke using auto update, but the author's website had updated versions. The one stumbling block was the update horked categories, randomly, on some of my posts.

You know how people complain about Microsoft not doing anything right? Well, I offer that Sony is about 100 paces further behind. I'm now convinced that everything Sony touches will be shit. I really want a reason to like my PS3; even though I've only turned it on three or four times since I bought it almost a year ago. It should be a great media center console, but it seems like every format is gimped in some way to protect against watching pirated movies (valid concern, but come on, just look the other way ... oh wait, yeah you guys own a movie studio ... okay I'll give you that one). And then there's forced installs on games. Who thought this was a great idea? Is the drive really that slow? Because even after the game is installed, wait times are still awful. I get home last night, and excitedly throw in Prologue hoping to get a few races in before it's time to get Logan off to bed. And here's how that went.

I was humming along, loving life on the thyroid medication; so much energy, I can now loose weight again just by paying attention to what I eat, I'm in such a better mood all the time (except for at work, nothing new there) and I'm much more patient. Strangely, when I was down on thyroid, I was much more easy going at work and now I'm back to being cranky like usual. Now my biggest fear wasn't that something was wrong with me, it was that the Dr. would say I'm getting too much and dial me back. I don't want to go back to living in a fog.
