I completely forgot to mark this one down; and to be honest, I'd kind of given it up for dead since it was so flaky. But I picked it up again a few days ago and have been loving on it ever since. It's just another itunes sharing app that lives on a computer and reads/streams the itunes dbase. To be fair, it also works with winamp and rhythmbox. But its claim to fame is that they've successfully gotten a iPhone app published to the itunes app store. Why would I want to stream my music from my home computer when the iPhone has a perfectly good iPod interface and you can load uncompressed music locally? Is your music library < 16GB? I know mine isn't. This app gives me access to all my music. I still load stuff I want to listen to when I don't have a network connection, or I want higher quality than a compressed stream. Sound quality is pretty decent, performance is great (now) and bandwidth usage is almost immeasurable. So now I've got iTunes living on my home server with the simplifymedia app. It ...

This is my favorite race of the year, because Spa (Spa-Francorchamps) is the last of the great old circuits. Monza is still on the calendar, but it's a shadow of its former self. And it's rare that there's a boring race at Spa. And what's not to like about watching cars fly up Eau Rouge? A typical Spa race calls for rain, but because the circuit is so long, and has so many elevation changes, it's not unusual for the circuit to be wet at one end, and bone dry at the other. And that's what we got for 08. Coming into this race Kimi was locked in an internal power struggle for lead driver status because his season has been so dismal. He lost pole to Hamilton, and worse, Massa was lined up 2nd and Kovalainen 3rd. But, the starting grid and first turn were wet while the rest of the track was dry ... everybody was on dry tires and would have to tip-toe off the start. Kimi got a great start, took Kovalainen immediately; reeled in Massa, and pushed him to the edge of the track to get by so ...

Okay, no, not really. How about, 'Best movie I can remember seeing. That wasn't Dark Knight.' By itself, as a hollywood behind-the-scenes parody, at first glance it's standard stuff. But three things made this one for me. Robert Downey Jr. That one's a given, I mean he's the big punch line that's supposed to get everybody to go see it. But he chews up every scene so much, that you begin just watching the movie to see what his next line is. There's a layer of very subtle humor underneath the obvious schtick. It's hard to catch, it'll just a be a line said off screen. Tom Cruise. Yes, Tom Cruise. Wait to see before you judge.

I'd missed a critical bit of fine print. Around week 3 or 4, you're supposed to run through the initial test of how many you can do in a row, and then readjust what column you're using. I blindly kept using the right hand max column and did a double-take when the rep count doubled. Tried pushing through it, didn't make it and got discouraged. Then I had some excuses. My wife's family came into town, I had other stuff I was doing, blah da blah de blah. So now I'm just going to start all over from scratch. And it's amazing how quickly it fades. I was up to almost 50 in one go, and now I can barely hit 35.

I finally found a pre-made template that I like. It's called Massive Press. Had to make some small changes to it though, the author had it setup so that each post had to have a thumbnail image or it wouldn't display correctly ... easy change. Still need to create the header graphic and then there's also an iphone specific massivepress template that I want to get working. After that it's about time I get to redoing the main page and the picture page for Logan.

They sell a couple million iphones, but they expect you to use the same support infrastructure as their computers? I went in because when set to 3G I can't make, answer or maintain a call and they wanted me to wait until tomorrow (the soonest appt available at the "genius bar"). Just as I was angered at their unintelligent way of dealing with limited availability and lines, I'm angered that they don't staff at least one or two dedicated iPhone support reps.

It's a long story, but I finally got an iphone. I'm actually posting this using the wordpress iPhone app. Sadly, I'm thinking about taking it back. 3G reception is awful, and wifi blinks on and off randomly.

Saw the One Hundred Pushups in 6wks program posted on digg the other day and figured I'd give it a try. I'm on my 2nd week and I'm finding it surprisingly easy, so it shouldn't be too tough to stick with. Next up is the couch to 5k program (yeah, that'll happen). I'm curious if I can adapt the pushup program to crunches ...

I'd turned on the previous night and played a couple of E3 demos and all was fine. But last night when I sat down to play I got the infamous 3RROD. Error code 0020. So, of course, I turned to google and quickly found the 'x-clamp replacement fix'. (just google it, you'll get a ton of hits with tuts, videos and actual Lowes and Home Depot part #'s).

We were at Toys R' Us getting Logan an Air Hog plane (long story) and there on the clearance shelf was a big remote control motorcycle. Looked cool, no price tag. Hmmm. I'm figuring, oh this thing's gotta be $50 or so, but I'll check anyway. Find a scanner, scan tag ... $6.80. Huh?!? No, that can't be right. Scan again. $6.80. Well, okay I'll take it to the counter and see if it still rings up as that, and if it does I'll snag it. Fully expecting that it'd ring up at normal price on the front register I was amazed when it rang up $6.80 and said regular price was $8.60. Everywhere on the net, it's $50-$60 so I'm sure somebody screwed up the decimal. Not that an r/c motorcycle was really what I wanted, but even if it doesn't work great, $6.80 is cheap enough that I don't really care.

I almost squealed like a little girl when I saw Barrichello go to extreme wets and start storming past everybody else that were on intermediates. First unlapping himself, then charging through the field. Honda claims that were it not for a fuel rig problem, he would've been good to go to the end of the race. Which would've netted him second place instead of third. Looked more to me like they pushed him out of the pits early to service Button who was stacked behind him ... Button later beached it. I came close to screaming when I saw them put intermediates back on Barrichello, thinking that his slow ass car would drop back the field like a stone. Surprisingly, he was able to keep the pace. Old man crash, aka David Coulthard, announced he was retiring at the end of the season; fittingly he crashed into somebody, again and took himself out of the race. That will leave Barrichello, if he picks up a contract extension for next year, as the most senior driver in F1. And unlike Coulthard, he seems to still have the concentration and the reflexes to go fast.

Forgot to post this one way back. Lets you easily change the look of the XP or Vista logon screen. Mainly I use it to set the logon screen background. Don't be scared that the page only mentions XP, when you go to the download page you'll get to choose between XP and Vista.
